The below image represents another climactic beginning. This excerpt is from book #2: The Chronicles of a Hip Hop Legend, Cipher and the Lost Relic of Pangea’s Core (releasing in early 2013). As you will note, book #2 begins in a rather unorthodox way; it begins with Chapter 37. This is because D.D. Turner wants you, the reader, to feel as though you are making progress in this multi-installment literary series.

“It’s absolutely wonderful to make decisions without having to answer to a major corporation/publisher; I only have to meet the approval of my readers. Being independent is the move!”

-D.D. Turner

More than a viable brand for literacy, “The Chronicles of a Hip Hop Legend” represents a movement that looks to create a plausible platform to address the problem of teen illiteracy. How do you get teens to express a genuine interest in reading? Here’s a reasonable response: Provide a story that speaks directly to their lifestyle and interests all the while maintaining a tone that remains aligned with their age. Simply put, this is “The Chronicles of a Hip Hop Legend”. http://www.chroniclesofahiphoplegend.com for more information. #Hip-Hop #Rap #Books #Reading #Teen #COHH

Another awesome review! Thanks for the analytic review, Terrance.

Reader Review
——————–

“Okay. Several reasons why you should check out this series:

1) The level of writing is phenomenal.
2) The story provides an image of Fantasy/Sci-Fi over the constant presence of the Hip Hop culture/lifestyle. This is the connection to today’s teen.
3) The story is absolutely clean and free of derogatory subject matter.
4) The story provides a new and refreshing take on Teen/Young Adult literature.
5) The story dispels the myths concerning urban culture and the position that Hip Hop plays in it.
6) All around captivating and fun story. This is a must have.

An excellent work of literature by a great talent.”  -TPG

The Chronicles of a Hip Hop Legend is a unique and amazing literary series that uses both the tonal influence of Hip Hop and the literary genre platform of fantasy-fiction; the result is a clean, family-friendly, amazing tale that offers both excitement and magical suspense…

Series Description
———————

Cris Alexander Ellison is a young man who, with great pride, overtly claims and supports the culture of Hip Hop. Little does Cris know that he has a direct genealogical link to an ancient, prophetic African tribe that is said to have sown the seeds for the Hip Hop ideal some several thousand years ago. As a result of this unique link to the past, Cris soon finds out that he is the anointed holder of an ancient mystical key; one that will release the current Hip Hop culture from its dwindling existence — and guide it back on the golden path of resurgence. Fully accepting his noble destiny, Cris sets out to fulfill the prophecy — only to encounter a major tumbling block in Roger “Feedback” Cromwell and his Hip Hop for Destruction clan. What follows next is a pulse-pounding race for survival as Cris tries to fulfill his date with destiny — and evade certain death at the hands of a ruthless enemy.

Powerful, moving, and riveting until the very last page, The Chronicles of a Hip Hop Legend is a towering triumph by one of fantasy-fiction’s most prolific new talents.

Cris Ellison, The Chronicles of a Hip Hop Legend (Literary Series) by: D.D. Turner

Did you know that The Chronicles of a Hip Hop Legend started out as a self-printed and distributed comic book series in NYC more than 10 years ago? The below image is an actual page from the second installment of the series (circa. 2003). Wong Dowling, along with D.D. Turner and C. Staton served as a co-creator of the series and the sole talent behind the captivating artwork and layout. It would be because of the tragic and untimely death of Wong that The Chronicles of a Hip Hop Legend would become the amazing literary series that people are enjoying today. #COHH #HipHop #Fantasy #Books
